Trivia / Super Robot Wars Destiny

  • Urban Legend of Zelda: Destiny is commonly said to have a Game-Breaking Bug that causes the Armor stat to not apply to damage reduction. The actual cause of the issue is that units in Destiny simply have defensive stats on par with the Classic Timeline games, while weapon attack power is on the high end of the scale, comparable to the Original Generation titles. Since Destiny units lack the high Armor rating to balance it out, overall damage is much higher, making super robots, who are normally Mighty Glaciers and Lightning Bruisers, into Glass Cannon units instead. While it is possible to make a unit into a durable one, it requires considerable investment in both the robot's Armor stat and the pilot's Defense stat; most games only require one or the other. This is easily tested by upgrading a unit's Armor before going into battle and comparing the numbers to the same unit without upgrades, but rumors of an Armor bug still persist to this day.
    • Unit accuracy and evasion in Destiny is also lower than average, but the "Focus" Spirit Command that increases hit and dodge rate is available on virtually every pilot who needs it, while it's comparatively rare for super robot pilots to get the "Guard" Spirit Command that boosts defense. Other defensive commands are available, but most only affect one incoming attack.
    • One that is an actual bug, though, is that the game applies Bonus Points to character data regardless of if they are friend or foe at the moment. So, if you level up and modify Chronicle, B.D, Marg and Rosenote , or Gabil at all, they'll have those modifications to their stats when you fight them on your next playthrough. The kicker is that the game gives different character portraits different stats, so this means Brainwashed Marg (enemy only) doesn't get the Bonuses, but Katejina and Glacius (their portraits only change when they join) aren't affected. Luckily, the game properly transfers Hayato and Max's BP. (Hint: don't pump up just their Defense.)
  • Word of God: Banpresto have expressed the notion to remake Destiny in order to fix the perceived problems with it, especially since the originals and the majority of the series represented in it have reappeared elsewhere.
