  • What Could Have Been:
    • Alexis Kennedy, Failbetter's co-founder and former head of development, revealed in an AMA that his original pitch for the game "didn't involve London leaving the earth, involved a lot more non-human politics and a war in heaven with the Liberation of Night operating rather like an infectious cancer."
    • In the original Kickstarter pitch, the Isambard Line in the Reach was a stalled public works project that the player could get up and running with enough effort. This idea was scrapped due to time constraints and the Line was instead rewritten as an abandoned architectural "folly", a building or project that implies more vanity than sense in its builders.
  • Troubled Production: The Sovereign Edition version seems to have been hit with some version of this, as it was announced in October 2019, and was originally planned to release in the first half of 2020. Failbetter ended up pushing the release window back several times, however, due to persistent performance issues with the console ports. The Sovereign Edition was eventually released to the public in May 2021.
