• Long-Runners: It's been around since 1988.
• Real Life Writes the Hairstyle: Kevin Nash had his hair cut short in a Hair vs. Hair match prior to his appearance at the 2003 event. This was because he had to cut it for The Punisher.
• What Could Have Been:
  • The original plan for the first edition of SummerSlam was to bring Ric Flair over from the National Wrestling Alliance to the WWF. Vince McMahon, the owner of the WWF, wanted Flair to challenge Randy Savage in the main event for the WWF Championship. Flair, however, felt obliged to the NWA and did not leave the promotion for the WWF. Therefore, Hulk Hogan and Savage were paired together to end their feuds with their respective on-screen rivals. Flair would not join the WWF until 1991.
  • A tag team Women's Championship match was planned for the 2010 event, pitting LayCool against Kelly Kelly and Taryn Terrell. The latter was suspended for assaulting her husband Drew McIntyre in the weeks leading up to the event, and the match never happened.
  • For the 2020 show, Sonya Deville originally challenged Mandy Rose to a Hair vs Hair match. However, it was changed to Loser Leaves WWE the very next week. This is because both women were the victim of an attempted kidnapping in Sonya's home, and the stipulation was a way to write Sonya off TV.
