  • Content Leak: A build of the game containing much of World 1 and parts of World 2 was leaked online at one point, leading to many people finding out about various ideas that hadn't been shown yet to the public at the time. Much of said content has since been confirmed by the developers' devlogs.
  • Orphaned Reference: The Painter was originally supposed to be the game's Pepperman equivalent and first boss, but this was scrapped in favor of making him an ally of Pizzelle with a currently unknown role. Due to his original role, he still takes a lot of aspects from Pepperman, such as his job, blocky teeth and eye design despite him no longer being the game's Pepperman equivalent.
  • What Could Have Been: As the game is still in development, several ideas have been scrapped or replaced.
    • Pizzelle was originally designed as male, and is referred to with he/him pronouns in the demo description. Eventually, she was retconned into a trans female, with any previous usage of he/him pronouns being handwaved as her using any pronouns.
    • The game's Pepperman and Vigilante equivalents were originally an orange candy apple named Applejim and a pink bartender named The Bartender respectively. This was scrapped, likely due to them being too similar to the original characters, though Applejim is slated to make a cameo in the game as a Development Gag. Later, they were going to swap personalities, becoming The Sheriff and Gumbob, respectively, but this was also scrapped. Later, the Pepperman equivalent was planned to be an anthropomorphic paintbrush named The Painter, but he was scrapped as a boss to serve as an ally with a currently unknown role instead.
    • The game was originally going to have multiple campaigns, in which you would play as Pizzelle, Pizzano and The Bartender. This idea has been scrapped in favor of giving Pizzelle the sole campaign.
    • Pizzelle was originally going to be named Pizzano, but that name would eventually be given to the game's The Noise/Peppino equivalent.
    • Similarly, Pizzano was originally named The Cream Puff, but that name was scrapped for unknown reasons.
    • Some of the character personalities and roles where originally going to be swapped differently.
      • Mr. Stick was originally going to be swapped with Gustavo, becoming the character Beanpole. This was scrapped, and now, the reverse is slated to happen, with Gustavo gaining Mr. Stick's role, becoming The G.
      • Snick, a character exclusive to the SAGE 2019 demo of Pizza Tower, was originally going to get Mr. Stick's role, becoming the agressive Snitch. Similarly, Mr. Stick was considered to get Snick's role, becoming the Totally Radical Mr. Cloot.
      • Noisette was originally going to be swapped with Snick, with her gaining an outfit similar to Snick's. She would eventually become the Gustavo equivalent instead.
    • Rudy was originally an enemy, with his behavior being unknown. Eventually, he was repurposed into the game's Gerome equivalent. Even earlier, he was brown rather than blue, and, judging from art made by the developers, was originally supposed to have a more violent personality, as opposed to a carefree one.
    • Two equivalents of Fake Peppino were considered. One of which was an orange-colored fake version of Pizzelle, and another one of which was a blue-skinned fake version of Pizzano. Both of which were scrapped.
    • The G was originally going to be named Sweetstack, and was going to have a much kinder, Gustavo-esque personality. Eventually, he was reworked into having a personality similar to Mr. Stick instead.
    • Several levels have been scrapped:
      • A jungle-themed level called Soursweet Jungle.
      • A theme park level themed around chocolate.
      • Wafer Falls, a wafer-themed level which would have been the game's John Gutter equivalent. It was eventually replaced with Crunchy Construction.
      • Martian Freezer, a 50s-to-70s Raygun Gothic-inspired freezer level containing ice cream-like "Big-headed aliens" and U.F.Os. The development team had already created a lot of spritework and 3 different music tracks for it, but it was scrapped in favor of Sting Operation after the developers found it to play too clunky.
    • Crunchy Construction was originally named Entryway, but was eventually renamed for unknown reasons.
    • The game was originally going to have a candy cane power-up similar to Pizza Tower's shotgun that would let you pogo with it, similar to Ducktales. This was scrapped for unknown reasons.
    • The game's P-rank equivalent was originally an E-rank that would have been a Stylistic Suck edit of the S-rank image showing a poorly-drawn E above a poorly drawn star with tiny text saying "You did it" in it. This was scrapped in favor of the traditional P-rank.
    • The game was originally going to have a mechanic where levels would have altered variants:
      • Exitway, a darker, purple variant of Entryway, the original version of Crunchy Construction. The tileset, the background music and some background assets have been created for it before it was scrapped.
      • Cottonstorm, a frozen version of Cottontown. Only some background assets have been created, though there exists concept art for this level's enemies.
    • Coneboy, the game's Pizzaboy equivalent was originally going to be playable. He would have a Kirby-style copy ability system in which he would swallow enemies and steal their powers.
  • Word of Gay:
    • Both Pizzelle and minor character Yello have been confirmed by the devs to be trans.
    • On Discord, one of the developers confirmed that the big bad, Coneball, is genderfluid and okay with any pronouns.
