Trivia / Stranger Things S4 E4: "Chapter Four: Dear Billy"

Go To

  • Emmy Bait: This episode, giving Sadie Sink a lot of emotional material and culminating with an epic escape, dropping just before the 2022 cut-off, seems very much of this trope. It didn't actually get Sink an Emmy nomination despite predictions from critics that it would, but did get four technical ones, winning two - for prosthetic makeup and music supervision. Sink would also win a Hollywood Critics Association award and was nominated for a Saturn.
  • Revival by Commercialization: Kate Bush's epic "Running Up That Hill (A Deal With God)" became a chart-topper when this season dropped - thirty-seven years after its release. It became Bush's second number 1 single in the UK (the first being "Wuthering Heights", also giving her the interesting record of being both the youngest and oldest female artist to have a UK number 1 single). It remains in the UK Top 40 as of 4 September 2022, over two months after the release of Volume 2. It got to Number One in ten other countries too.
  • What Could Have Been: The original idea was that Nancy and Robin would dress more "maturely" for their visit to Pennhurst, which the costume designer accepted could mean "hotter". This was changed to the outfits that they actually wear.
