- Real Life Writes the Plot:
- Orlin having descended in the form of a child was a workaround for Sean Patrick Flanery being unavailable to reprise the role.
- General Hammond's appearance in the episode was a last-minute addition. Originally, it was going to be a cameo of then-USAF Chief of Staff General John Jumper, but like Flanery, a scheduling conflict came up. Davis, who was coincidentally already in Vancouver shooting for The Dead Zone, was asked to reprise the role of Hammond on short notice and he agreed.
- What Could Have Been: Again, it was originally expected that Sean Patrick Flanery would be available to reprise the role of Orlin. His scheduling conflict forced the SG-1 creative team to completely re-work Orlin's role in the episode (and at one point, they considered making it a new Ancient character instead).
