Trivia / Star Wars: Legacy

Go To

  • Approval of God: Considering George Lucas wanted to do a video game where Maul teamed up with Talon to fight Darth Krayt and the One Sith, he's apparently aware of this series and likes the Sith characters, especially Talon. He also tried to get her into the Sequel Trilogy.
  • Executive Meddling: Many believe this is the reason for the abrupt and surprising cancellation of the series. For what it's worth, Dark Horse editor Randy Stradley did not want to end it, and the authors themselves were taken by total surprise and told to wrap up the numerous plot threads by issue #50.
  • Refitted for Sequel:
    • The story of Legacy draws a fair bit from the first draft of Star Wars (which itself was adapted into the What If? comic The Star Wars), with the Galactic Empire initially ruled by The Good King and his Jedi followers, only to be overthrown by the Sith.
    • Early in the development of The Force Unleashed, one of the first story pitches involved the player being the last member of the Skywalker bloodline five hundred years after the Original Trilogy. This was ultimately abandoned in favor of giving Darth Vader a secret apprentice, but Legacy follows on the idea of a Distant Finale featuring the last Skywalker.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • Back when a Darth Maul game was in the works, George Lucas had the idea of having him team up with Darth Talon, ignoring the fact that the two exist in different time periods. When informed that Darth Talon lived over a hundred years after Maul, he suggested using either a descendant or clone for the player character.
    • Darth Talon or an expy of her almost appeared in what became The Force Awakens, dating back to George Lucas' treatments for the sequels.
      • George Lucas's treatment would've had Maul return and Talon would have been his apprentice, serving as The Dragon to his Big Bad. The aforementioned Maul game was likely a spawn of this idea.
      • In The Force Awakens concepts, she would've seduced the Finn/Poe-type character and slept with him, was a dual wielder instead, and a "puppeteer figure" was her superior. She was scratched and replaced by Kylo Ren, and the relationship with a "puppeteer figure" presumably became Kylo Ren and Snoke's relationship.
    • The fact that the comic series's first volume was cancelled unexpectedly after 50 issues for mysterious reasons is certainly one. While Ostrander and Duursema were allowed to write a miniseries to finish out their story, Legacy-War is extremely rushed with each issue seemingly like it could have been easily a six issue arc on its own once subplots were introduced.
  • Word of God: Legacy creators John Ostrander and Jan Duursema frequently communicate with the fans regarding background information.
  • Word of Saint Paul:
    • According to Jan Duursema, it's likely that Cade Skywalker is a descendant of Ben Skywalker, the son of Luke Skywalker and Mara Jade Skywalker.
    • In respect to Cade's birthdate, Jan Duursema gave it as having been in 116 ABY.
