• Creator Backlash: Episode writer Jeri Taylor admitted to later regretting the Holier Than Thou speech she gave to Janeway at the end of the episode.
• What Could Have Been: Originally, the script ended with the Trabe attack succeeding in wiping out the entire Kazon leadership. During the course of rewrites this was changed to all the Kazon leaders except for Culluh being killed, and finally Janeway foiling the ambush before anyone can be killed.
