Trivia / Star Trek: The Next Generation S4E20 "Qpid"

Go To

  • Double Standard / Faux Action Girl (from a production point of view): Troi and Crusher don't get to swordfight even though in reality, Gates McFadden and Marina Sirtis were the only ones of the main cast with stage swordfighting experience. The director claimed it was because women in medieval times wouldn't have been swordfighting; however, Troi and Crusher weren't "playing" female roles, but rather were members of the Merry Men (and dressed accordingly).
  • Follow the Leader: Ira Steven Behr had initially proposed setting this episode at Camelot. On his suggestion, Michael Piller changed it to Sherwood Forest to capitalize on the popularity of Robin Hood at the time, thanks to the release of Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves.
  • Romance on the Set: Patrick Stewart and Jennifer Hetrick's on-again off-again romance, beginning with "Captain's Holiday", was "on" at this point; they were engaged at the time.
  • Throw It In!: Vash has been transformed into Lady Marian by Q. As they were filming the scene where she paces back and forth in her cell, Jennifer Hetrick tripped over her dress. The director left it in, reasoning that a 24th-century woman would not be used to walking in 12th-century finery.
  • You Look Familiar: Background actor John Copage made his second Star Trek appearance after 24 years following his role as Elliott in The Original Series episode "The Doomsday Machine".
