Trivia / Star Trek: Deep Space Nine S07E25 E26 "What You Leave Behind"

Go To

  • Actor-Inspired Heroism: Avery Brooks objected when the original script made it clear that Sisko was with the Prophets for good, lending to Unfortunate Implications of a black man abandoning his newlywed wife, son, and unborn child. It was then changed so that Sisko promised Kasidy that he would return one day, which came true in the relaunch novels.
  • Reality Subtext: The scene where Quark and Vic play Go Fish because there's nothing else to do was the last scene ever filmed for DS9. So, there actually was nothing left to do on the show.
  • Throw It In!: Casey Biggs felt that Damar should have some last words, hence his final "Keep..." He still has no idea how he would have ended that sentence.
  • Troubled Production: Ron Moore wasn't able to work on the script's second half, forcing the other two writers into a very rushed schedule to finish it on their own. Thus, the explanation for the common accusation of the Pah-wraith resolution feeling so out of place.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • The creative staff briefly toyed with the idea of ending the show with Benny Russell on a soundstage reading a script entitled "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine," hinting that the show, and possibly the entire franchise, was All Just a Dream.
    • Mark Shepard (Morn's actor) tried to convince the producers to let Morn have the final spoken lines on the show.
    • While they wanted to include images of Jadzia in the flashbacks, the price quoted by Terry Farrell's management would have broken the already straining budget (hence the Stock Footage Failure of the final battle of the Dominion War reusing many prior scenes), leading to her notable absence from any of them.
