• Creator Backlash: While opinions about Martus as a character were pretty mixed among the writing staff — Michael Piller liked him, co-writer Jim Trombetta felt the rewrites dulled the character too much, while Ira Steven Behr flat-out hated him — practically all of them agreed that Chris Sarandon was completely miscast in the role, and that his playing Martus as a Smug Snake instead of a slick charmer ended any potential of him becoming a recurring character.
