- Lieberman's original script called for the movie to be set in rural New England. A combination of unseasonably bad weather and budget restrictions resulted in production being diverted to Georgia, necessitating a last-minute rewrite of the script. By that point, most of the actors had already been cast, hence the blatantly fake Deep South accents.
