  • Accidentally-Correct Writing: The Christian Kirbo Running Gag was intended as a half comedic, half positive expression of Jeremy Chinshue's own religious beliefs. However, in the early-2020's, it turned out that Kirby actually does contain intentional Christian symbolism: fans discovered concept art for Kirby's Return to Dream Land that explicitly connects Magolor's betrayal of Kirby to Judas Iscariot's betrayal of Jesus, which the Switch remake doubles down on.
  • Approval of God:
    • While not technically confirming these theories, TerminalMontage hearts comments which have plausible theories about the lore, such as the Speed Demon possessing Mario when the hand stretched his face at the beginning of "Something About Super Mario 64" and Luigi using the tape his future(?) self gave him to bring his friends back together after Rosalina's Reset Button made them forget. And on his other channel, he seems to have approved the theory that "BIRD UP" may possibly be the ultimate antagonist of the Something About series.
    • Moreso Approval of The Higher Beings. YouTube themselves have commented on both the Season 5 compilation and "Something About Pokémon Legends: Arceus", the former simply complimenting his content, and the latter stating that they feel seen with the random Paras invasions.
  • Defictionalization: At least three characters in this video game parody series were turned into actual game characters in Rivals of Aether via mods; behold, Speedrunner Link, Speedrunner Mario, and 100% Accurate Frisk. The last one is virtually unbeatable.
  • Descended Creator: Jeremy usually gets other actors to provide voices for characters that aren't bit parts, but he plays X in the Mega Man X episode and Nightmare in the episode on Kirby's Adventure.
  • Distanced from Current Events: "Something About Yoshi's Island" has the brown Yoshi get wrongfully arrested by the police for false charges, simultaneously an obvious jab at police racism and a means to have him Put on a Bus out of a future Yoshi's Story episode for source accuracy reasons because that game did not have any brown Yoshi. By the time "Something About Yoshi's Story" was released, the Black Lives Matter Movement was criticizing the former facet, so The Stinger had the brown Yoshi return through a long scene where he is released and given generous compensation as it would probably be seen in poor taste if the joke continued.
  • Fanwork Ban: The intro to each episode asks people not to re-upload the original videos, counting reaction videos in that category. The owner is okay with small clips or gifs though.
  • Hey, It's That Sound!:
    • Many shorts use sound effects from Super Mario RPG, particularly those belonging to special attacks.
    • Sound effects from Super Smash Bros. 64 are also common, mainly impact sounds and menu dings.
    • The Roblox "oof!" sees use when characters get smacked or shoved around.
    • "Something About Kirby's Adventure" uses a handful of Minecraft sounds, including walking on grass and opening doors.
    • The "kid getting hit by a flyswatter" meme appears as Baby Mario's screaming in Yoshi's Island.
  • Post-Release Retitle: "Something About The Photon Aerospace Control Engineer" was later retitled "Something About Pac-Man" a couple weeks after its release.
  • Parody Assistance: Lucas Gilbertson, who had been the voice of Zero in the Mega Man X series from 2004-2006, reprises his role in the video "Something About Mega Man X".
  • Promoted Fangirl: Jeremy's girlfriend-turned-wife Vanessa Chinsue (neé Lopez) started out as one of his certified Patreon supporters. Starting from "Something About Super Mario World", she'd become part of the episode staff, serving as the production assistant (Though for the aforementioned episode she was credited for the coloring).
  • Role Reprise: Zero in "Something About Mega Man X" is voiced by Lucas Gilbertson, who voices him in Mega Man X: Command Mission, Mega Man X8, and Mega Man: Maverick Hunter X.
  • Schedule Slip: "Something About the Subspace Emissary", which was initially teased in the video "? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?", was intended for release in December, but got delayed due to the time it took to make the teaser episode "Something About Super Mario All-Stars".
  • Screwed by the Lawyers: One of the music tracks present in Something About Sonic The Hedgehog 2 was copyright-claimed, therefore forcing a music replacement and subsequently removing the original sound effects and voice acting present for the affected sequences. A version with different background music was eventually uploaded on Terminal Montage Clips, combined with Something About Sonic The Hedgehog.
  • Throw It In!: In Something About Resident Evil 4 Remake, Jeremy explains in the captions that the scene of Ashley using the soundbite of Boo saying "Mike Wazowski" after Leon gets mauled by a giant dog was because he thought Boo in the movie referred to Sully as "puppy", but couldn't find this audio bit and so put the name in since he thought it was also from Boo addressing Sully. It wasn't until a conversation with his wife later that he found out Boo calls Sully "kitty" instead, and Mike Wazowski is the name of Sully's partner. Despite this mix-up, he kept the "Mike Wazowski" soundbite in.
  • Write What You Know: Jeremy Chinsue is devoutly Christian, and depicts both Kirbo, Luigi and Simon as Religious Bruisers in reflection of that.
