Fridge Brilliance

  • In Something About... Zelda Ocarina of Time - PART 3, we learn that Darunia named his son "Pepto-Bismol". In the original game, Darunia named his son after Link (or whatever the player chose to name Link) in honor of his bravery when clearing out Dodongo's Cavern seven years before. It sounds like a goofy throwaway joke, until one realizes that in the "Something About" version, Link just suggests the obvious response that the gorons eat the boulder sealing the cavern off, and the gorons do all of the work in the cave, even eating the fire-breathing dodongos alive. Given that Pepto-bismol is a heartburn medication, it seems likely Darunia named his son after something that helped him in his hour of need anyway... just not the same thing.
    • Even better, it's also a Brick Joke from Part 1, where the Great Deku Tree asked Navi to "Get the Pepto-Bismol" to deal with the Gohma infestation, and Navi immediately went to a house in the forest that - in a blink-and-you-miss-it moment - is labeled "Pepto-Bismol's House".
  • In Something about Kirby 64, Zero Two's Heel–Face Turn has a justification other than him having a Fallen Angel design. The justification is that Dark Matter is implied to have the same origin as Kirby. And given that Kirbo was created to be God's messenger and is stated to be God's favorite creation, all was really needed was for Zero to regain his faith in God.
  • In Something About Photon Aerospace Control Engineer/Pac-Man, the ghosts' initial appearance mimics their original behaviors from the game.
    • Red/Blinky is the first to be encountered and begins rushing after Pac-Man. In the game, he is the only ghost to spawn outside the ghost house and will relentlessly peruse Pac-Man during his chase phase.
    • Orange/Clyde is seen hiding inside a corpse. In the game, he will initially chase Pac-Man, but when he approaches, he will then run away and hide in the bottom left corner. Later on he will come back after Pac-Man.
    • Blue/Inky immediately ambushes Pac-Man from the side. In the game, he will attempt to predict where Pac-Man will be and ambush him there, based off the distance of Red/Blinky.
    • Pink/Pinky bursts from the shade and blocks Pac-Man from the front. In the game, she will attempt to move directly in front of Pac-Man.
  • In the Something Vs. videos, Melee Fox, Speedrunner Mario and Brawl Meta Knight speak in Japanese. Speedrunners often use japanese versions of games because they tend to have faster text scrolling/fewer text boxes.
  • When Bowser grows in size in Something About Smash Bros World of Light, it's Samus who kills him. By the point she kills him, he's grown far larger than a planet. Samus is notorious for blowing up planets.
  • A meta example. In "Something about Pokémon Legends: Arceus, Volo, an Omnicidal Maniac, is voiced by Lucas Gilbertson, whose most famous role is Zero. Wily originally intended for Zero to be an Omnicidal Maniac, so Volo having the same voice actor as Zero isn't exactly out of the blue.
  • In "Something About Donkey Kong Country 2" Diddy and Dixie spend most of the boss fights either running scared or defeating them by accident. However come the Bonus Boss in Krocodile Kore during The Stinger, they come for K. Rool guns blazing. Why? Because to get there you need to 100% the gamenote , Diddy and Dixie have taken levels in badass to be able to get there.

Fridge Horror

  • The Stinger to Something About Yoshi's Story showed Brown Yoshi released from his wrongful accusation, and given proper compensation. The horror kicks in when the judge says Brown Yoshi was accused of being Burt the Bashful. One look at the two, and anyone knows that they look nothing alike. How many wrongful incarcerations were caused because of that kind of idiocy? Seriously, at least Shadow Mario had Mario's outline.
  • The Pokémon Battle Royale series takes place in a set of computer simulations. Seems harmless, right? Well, when two unfortunate Pokémon ends up somehow gets broken out of their simulation into the Gigantamax simulation and warp to a room by going into a Gengar's mouth, they find a bunch of monitors displaying scenes from all of the previous battles. A Sudowoodo from the real world sees them witnessing this from a monitor and runs off in panic. What's going on?
    • The previous episode showed that Mega Pinsir got sent to Mario's world. "Something About The Subspace Emissary" showed that the Smash characters can enter the real Pokemon world and by extension, the Pokemon world is connected to Mario's world, potentially meaning that virtual Pokemon can appear in the real world.
  • In "Something About Super Mario All Stars", the subtitles imply that Mario destroyed Kingdom Hearts. However, Kingdom Hearts is the heart of all worlds, meaning that Mario just pulled a Class Z Apocalypse!
    • There's also some Fridge Logic regarding it: why didn't that Apocalypse happen?
  • In "Something About Kirby 64", Adeline visibly recoils in horror at the sight of Zero 2. Largely unsurprising, given her experience on Shiver Star, but unlike then, the video never shows us what it looks like to Adeline. Thanks to official artwork from the original game, however, we may have an idea...
