- Breakthrough Hit: "Chasing Cars", thanks to Grey's Anatomy. Prior to that, "Run" was their commercial breakthrough in the United Kingdom.
- Colbert Bump: Their songs have been featured in other works, and have gained more fans as a result. "Chasing Cars" became a Breakthrough Hit because of Grey's Anatomy, while "Signal Fire" was on Spider-Man 3.
- Creator Backlash: Gary doesn't really like their first album, since he felt like the band hadn't found their identity at the time. He also for a long time didn't have fond memories of the song "Starfighter Pilot".
- Cultured Badass: Paul goes to art museums in each city the band tours in, and chronicles his adventures on his Instagram page.
- Fan Community Nickname: Patrollers
- Follow the Leader: Once the band broke into the mainstream with "Chasing Cars" and to a lesser extent, "Run", listeners were immediate to associate them with Coldplay. Although, they are one of the few bands in this trope that were well received at the time.

- Referenced by...: Canadian figure skater Roman Sadovsky performed to "Chasing Cars" for his long program during the 2020-2021 and 2021-2022 competitive seasons.
- Troubled Production: It took seven years for Wildness to materialise. All of this was due to the band's struggle with writer's block, members working on different projects and Gary's battle with depression and alcoholism.
- What Could Have Been: "Signal Fire" wasn't written for Spider-Man 3 specifically, just a track they had made earlier in the year. The band had originally given it to the producers of Shrek the Third before they turned it down and the producers of Spider-Man 3 liked it enough to include it on the soundtrack.
- Working Title: According to a 2000's article about the band, "Santa Maria" was the original title for When It's All Over We Still Have to Clear Up.
