Trivia / Slow Damage

Go To

  • Creator-Chosen Casting: Fuchii Kabura (the director and scenario writer for Slow Damage) specifically requested that Yuki Ono be cast as Towa, expressing that only he can pull off Towa's lines in a certain bad ending, namely Fujieda's.
  • Darkhorse Casting: Yuki Ono is the only high-profile and instantly recognizable name among the cast, even among the few voice actors in the cast whose real identities can be discerned (despite being credited with their Porn Names).
  • Demand Overload: JAST's server crashed on the release date of the localized version of the game.
  • Extremely Lengthy Creation: The visual novel was teased all the way back during the 10th Anniversary iteration of CHiRAL Night in 2015, with news of the game's announcement going public in February 2016, but it took until February 2021 for the game to finally be released.
  • Porn Names: The entire voice cast is credited with their pseudonyms, though some of the voice actors' real identities can be figured out through some online research.
  • Portmanteau Series Nickname: Japanese fans tend to call the visual novel "SuroDame", which is a shortened version of how the title reads in romanized form (surō damēji).
  • Release Date Change: Slow Damage was supposed to be released in December 2020 before it was moved to February 2021, with the COVID-19 pandemic causing the delay.
  • Tribute to Fido: The design of the stray cat that Madarame finds and dotes on is greatly inspired by Uiro Yamada's pet cat, with both cats sharing the same fur and eye color. The only difference is that Yamada's cat has only one functional eye, while the other cat isn't given the same deformity. Likewise, Yamada's cat is named Towa, and in the game, Madarame likens the cat to Towa himself.
  • Unspecified Role Credit: Barring the main and most of the supporting characters, all minor and background characters (even if named) aren't credited with their specific voice actors.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • The official artbook shows that some of the characters' original designs are noticeably different from how they appear in the final cut of the game.
      • Taku was drawn with black hair at first, but his hair color was changed to red/reddish-brown since black hair made him look far younger than his actual age.
      • Rei was originally going to have a forked tongue by default, but it was ultimately saved for his Madness ending.
      • Madarame was first conceptualized as a "gloomier, more taciturn and absent-minded" kind of character.
      • Eiji has the most strikingly different conceptual design, as it has no resemblance to his current appearance.
      • Arimura was supposed to wear glasses and have longer hair.
      • Asakura was initially going to look older and gaunter.
      • Nakamura's other design featured him with shorter and blond hair.
      • Mizuno was originally dressed in bright pastel colors, though the idea was scrapped as it would make him look too conspicuous since him being the first Arc Villain of Rei's route is meant to be a surprise twist.
    • The artbook also showed a sketch which showed what Hayato's mother looked like, indicating that there were plans for her to make an actual appearance in Asakura's chapter. Similarly, there was another design shown for the female hostesses, though said design never made it to the final product.
    • Also revealed in the artbook was that Taku was originally surnamed Kawakami. And in line with the stark difference between his initial and final design, Eiji was previously given the name Shinobu.
