Trivia / Sitting Ducks

Go To

  • Accidentally Correct Zoology:
    • In "Aldo the Duck", Aldo grows feathers as a result of overdosing on duck hormone patches. In 2017, scientists have discovered crocodilians have the same feather development genes as in birds, even tweaking the genes of alligator embryos to trigger the first steps in growing feathers.
    • The ending of the video game has Bill and Aldo pointing out how much ducks and alligators have in common, despite being different. Given birds are the closest living relatives of crocodilians, the two really have much more in common than they thought.
  • Channel Hop: In the U.S., it was broadcast originally on Cartoon Network, then several years after it was canceled, it moved to Qubo. When series rights-holder NBCUniversal pulled out of the Qubo joint venture in 2012, Sitting Ducks went with them, and it hasn't been seen on American TV since.
  • Keep Circulating the Tapes: The show went into this once Cartoon Network and Qubo stopped airing the series. DVD releases can be quite confusing as well.
    • In the United States, Universal released what claimed to be Series 1 on DVD, but in reality, contained only one Series 1 episode, and the entirety of Series 2.
      • What stings even more is that this applies to the VHS releases as well. In fact, the American Ducktown Adventures VHS release claims that "Waddle's Spud Bud", "Got Milk," "Mind Over Mallard", and "Bill Hatches an Egg" are included on the VHS, despite the fact that none of the episodes were included on it.
    • In Europe and Japan, Series 1 was released on VHS and DVD in volumes titled "Duck Cravings", "Bill & Friends" and "Ducktown Adventures". However, while countries like Malaysia, Australia, Italy and Japan got all three volumes, other countries only got one or two. The UK only got Volume 1, for instance.
    • Hulu used to stream the entire series for a time, until 2014 when their streaming rights ended, then Netflix streamed it for a bit after that before it was taken off. Thankfully, the series is now streaming on Peacock as of July 2020.
  • Kids' Meal Toy: McDonald's released 5 halloween-themed plush toys in 2002.
  • No Export for You: For some reason, the series didn't air in Poland.
