- Adaptation Inspiration: While it is well known that executive producer Philip DeGuere was requested to write a show that would somehow be a modern-day "Butch and Sundance", what is not too much talked about is that his other point of inspiration was a spec pilot DeGuere had read about a divorced husband and wife detective team that was written by Bob Shayne (a frequent writing collaborator). That particular script [then called Wilder and Wilder] was eventually reworked and became another popular series "Hart to Hart". So when you see the boys bickering like "an old married couple" it's because they originally were.
- Dawson Casting: Of a sort. AJ is supposed to be several years younger than Rick, but in real life the actors were born mere months apart the same year.
- Real-Life Relative: Jameson Parker's real-life wife, Darleen Carr, guest-starred in three episodes. Gerald McRaney's real-life wife, Delta Burke, guest-starred in one episode. Tim Reid's wife, Daphne Maxwell Reid, had a recurring role as Downtown Brown's girlfriend.
- Tyop on the Cover: In the episode "The Hottest Ticket In Town", Morgan Woodward's name is misspelled in the credits as 'Morgan Wooward'.
