Trivia / Significant Other

Go To

  • Bonus Material: A special edition of Significant Other has a bonus disc with live performances.
  • Chart Displacement: The band's second highest song in Hot 100, behind "Rollin'" (#65), is... "N 2 Gether Now" (#70). And their only #1 in the Alternative Rock charts is... "Re-Arranged" (the much better known "Nookie" and "My Way" hit only #3 - but in turn, both outcharted "Re-Arranged" in the Mainstream Rock charts - while "Rollin'" was #4 and "Take A Look Around", #8).*
  • Creator Backlash: Wes Borland has stated in interviews that he hates "Nookie", one of the band's Signature Songs.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • As noted above, Les Claypool played bass and sung an outtake called "Hell of a Band", intended as a possible intro or interlude for the album, but it was scrapped.
    • Serj Tankian demo'd vocals for "Don't Go Off Wandering"
    • Eminem recorded a verse for the song "Turn Me Loose" with Fred Durst, but it was scrapped.
    • "Crushed" was recorded during the Significant Other sessions, but scrapped.
    • A song called "Don't Remember" was recorded during these sessions, showcasing some Three Dollar Bill, Y'all$ style aggressive guitar riffs, as well as some of the Ballad-style approach the band would later take on Results May Vary. It was never officially released, only ever appearing on bootlegs.
    • The band intended to record a cover of Prince's "1999" for the album, but he denied permission for them to record it. They still performed it live, including on MTV's New Years Eve special.
