Trivia / Screenwipe

  • Executive Meddling: A segment on the Queen's Christmas Speech was cut from the "A Very Screenwipe Christmas" episode at the request of the BBC and replaced with a slide stating just that... accompanied by System of a Down's "We Attack". In a milder example, Brooker says in another segment about The X Factor that Dermot O'Leary is a "really nice guy", accompanied by a caption saying this was at the insistence of his producer.
  • In Memoriam: The fifth episode of Series 5 was dedicated to the late Oliver Postgate of Smallfilms.
  • Keep Circulating the Tapes: As Charlie explains in the first episode, The BBC has a blanket license to use commercial music on broadcast TV - something Screenwipe uses liberally - the theme music is a commercial song, as is virtually all background and incidental music. However, this license does not extend to DVD or downloads, and the complexities of licensing all that music for that purpose (or removing it) mean that Screenwipe will never have a DVD release. As such, the only way you can now watch it is to watch uploads on YouTube or torrent it (something Brooker unofficially encourages).
  • Real Song Theme Tune: "AM 180" by Grandaddy, also known as the "''28 Days Later Shopping Scene" song.
  • Uncredited Role: Mr. Noseybonk during the knifing scene in the fifth episode from the fifth season is none other than Stuart Ashen, but he was never credited. It was revealed in this interview from Thunderbolt.
