• Follow the Leader: SHIELD was created specifically in response to the increasingly popular spy shows in the 60s. The idea that it needed a cool acronymous name was taken from The Man from U.N.C.L.E. and their use of gadgets was based on James Bond (the armorer was even referred to by Q's in the books).
• Schedule Slip: The second miniseries was on hiatus since 2012 due to the creators working on other projects for Marvel such as Infinity. As of 2014, it was still on the schedule, after 6 years, the remaining two chapters (chapter five and six) were released in 2018.
