Trivia / Rocket Power

Go To

  • Acting for Two: Both Trish and Sherry are voiced by Lauren Tom.
  • Creator Backlash: In the book Not Just Cartoons: Nicktoons, most of the production staff admitted that they felt the idea was stale and that they had to "drag their feet" to get it made.
  • The Danza: Sam Saletta as the first voice of Sam Dullard. note
  • Kids' Meal Toy: Burger King sold figures of Otto, Reggie, Sam and Twister with interchangeable accessories in their Kids' Meals in 2002.
  • Make-A-Wish Contribution: In the episode "The Big Day", a boy named Daniel Stark had his wish granted when he competed in a skateboarding contest with the gang.
  • Missing Episode: The pilot episode, "Rocket Beach". One of the few Klasky-Csupo Nickelodeon pilots to never be released or aired. Bits of it can be seen in the original title sequence (the animation is closer to the As Told by Ginger pilot).
  • Missing Trailer Scene: Many early promos for the show used footage from the Rocket Beach pilot, with the most noticeable difference is that Twister appears to be Asian and his skating helmet is blue instead of red.
  • Orphaned Reference: The big "N" on Sam's shirt stands for "New York," which was where he was supposed to be from instead of Kansas.
  • The Other Darrin:
    • After Sam's first voice actor Sam Saletta hit puberty after Season 1, Gary LeRoi Gray voiced the character for Seasons 2 and 3. Sean Marquette voiced Sam for Season 4.
    • After voicing Twister for the first 3 seasons, Ulysses Cuadra was replaced by Gilbert Leal for Season 4 due to the former hitting puberty.
    • CCH Pounder voiced Officer Shirley for Season 1. She was replaced by Denise Dowse as the voice for the character for the rest of the series.
    • Jordan Warkhol, the voice of Eddie, voiced Oliver in the episode "Mr. B Is In The House".
  • Playing with Character Type: "Saving Lt. Ryan" featured R. Lee Ermey playing a former Drill Sergeant Nasty who eventually started taking anger management classes and is now an earth-loving hippy who calls himself Sparkles. He comes back around to his former self by the end.
  • Recycled Script: A couple examples...
    • The Season 1 episode "Snow Day" is basically a combination of two earlier Hey Arnold! episodes "Hooky," where Arnold and Gerald skip school, have a horrible time, and end up missing a Surprise Carnival Day, and "Roller Coaster," where Arnold and Eugene get stuck on a roller coaster. The main difference is that Arnold and Gerald don't get caught when they play hooky, while Otto and Sam do get caught when their roller coaster gets stuck and ends up on the news, just as Raymundo and Tito are watching.
    • Another Season 1 episode, "The Wrath of Don," uses a very similar Broken Pedestal plot as an episode of The Littles, "A Little Drunk." The main difference is that the reason the Hollywood actor in the Littles episode acts mean is because he is an alcoholic, while with Rocket Power, the actor is just a flat-out Jerkass.
  • What Could Have Been: Sam was originally going to be from New York instead of Kansas.
  • Working Title: Rocket Beach, the name of the pilot, was the working title for the show before it was changed.
  • Write Who You Know: Arlene Klasky claims that the show was conceived from her son's then-current extreme sports phase.
