Trivia / Resident Evil – Code: Veronica

Go To

  • Killer App: When Code: Veronica first came out, it was one of the games to get a Sega Dreamcast for.
  • No Export for You: The Dreamcast version of Code: Veronica X was never released outside Japan.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • In an early version of the story, Alexia and Alfred Ashford were originally neo-Nazis known as Hilda and Hilbert Krueger, respectively. The concentration camp-esque design of the initial stages of the facility likely meant that a German nationality was a step too far in context, and so the antagonists were changed to Evil Brit twins instead, deadening the overt Nazi vibe and associated implications somewhat.
    • Jill Valentine was originally intended as the game's protagonist. However, when Hideki Kamiya added the last line to the Resident Evil 2 ending to suggest Leon S. Kennedy and Claire Redfield would go on a quest to fight Umbrella, writer Noboru Sugimura was forced to replace her with Claire. The freedom of the character thus allowed the Resident Evil 3 staff to use Jill.
    • Rumor has it that Leon was at one point going to be Claire's partner in this game and also die near the end. Capcom quickly realized how bad an idea it would be to kill off such a well-liked character and turned him into the new character named Steve Burnside instead (if true, this would explain why Steve looked so similar to Leon in the original release).
  • Word of God: Shinji Mikami confirmed in an interview in Weekly Famitsu No.582 that the cutscene of Ashford twins' younger selves cuts away just before they kiss each other.
  • Word of Saint Paul: Richard Waugh, Albert Wesker's voice actor, stated that he took inspiration for his performance from George Sanders's performance as Shere Khan in The Jungle Book.
