  • Artist Disillusionment: Judging from older interviews Aaron Barrett became a bit annoyed with the notoriety of "Sell Out" as well as the Executive Meddling that obliged the band to record the Cheer Up! album. Since leaving their label, he seems to have gotten better.
  • One-Hit Wonder: They did a song about it called "One-Hit Wonderful," which is used in the page quote. While "Sell Out" was their one song that actually charted, they're almost as well known for their cover of "Take On Me" by a-ha. Aaron, at least, regards "Beer" as their one-hit wonder, saying it has been their most popular song in the long run.
  • Role-Ending Misdemeanor:
    • Aaron never really got on with Tavis Werts, who played horns on the first two albums, and claims that he fired Tavis after an argument that ended with Tavis throwing a bottle at him. Other sources say Tavis quit instead after the argument, and don’t mention the bottle.
    • The other horns player from the early days, Grant Barry, had a tendency to drink a lot, which affected his performances at shows as he would just dance around rather than actually play. Eventually this hit a breaking point when a security guard ejected a girl from the stage when Grant was dancing with her. Grant punched the guard, and was fired very quickly.
