• Ascended Fanfic: Downpour started off as several separate mods (namely the More Slugcats Expansion) prior to being fully integrated into the game as DLC.
• Development Gag:
  • The Outer Expanse has several large shelters each formed by two Karma Gate doors, similar to the ones in early development of the game.
  • The Outskirts was originally intended to have a dark, underground subregion. Downpour gives it an entrance through Outer Expanse's Facility Roots, a Filtration System-like area that Survivor and Monk fell into before their campaigns.
  • One room in the pre-Hunter Garbage Wastes has a growth that resembles the cut "brain trees".
  • A few challenges are called "Suburban", "Linear Farms", and "Stygian Depths", respective unused names of the Outskirts, Farm Arrays, and Rubicon, Saint's version of the Depths.
• Dummied Out:
  • Digging through the game's code reveals an unfinished multiplayer mode. Proper multiplayer would latter be added in the form of Downpour's Jolly Co-Op.
  • Each region has an internal two-letter code with its own etymology: Outskirts has SU (Suburban), Industrial Complex has HI (Heavy Industrial), Drainage System has DS, Garbage Wastes has GW, Pipeyard has VS (Void System/Voided Subterranean), Shoreline has SL, Shaded Citadel has SH (Shaded/Shadow Urban), The Exterior has UW (Underhang/Wall/Underway), Five Pebbles has SS (Superstructure), Chimney Canopy has CC, Sky Islands has SI, Farm Arrays has LF (Linear Farms), Subterranean has SB (Sub), Outer Expanse has OE, Waterfront Facility has LM (Looks to the Moon), Metropolis has LC (Lost City), The Rot has RM (Rotten Maw), Submerged Superstructure has MS (Moon Superstructure), Looks to the Moon pre-collapse is DM (Depths of Moon), Undergrowth has UG, Silent Construct has CL (Collapse), and Rubicon has HR (Hell Region).
