Trivia / Rage (2011)

Go To

  • Casting Gag: Id has gone on record of saying that they hired John Goodman due to Dan Hagar's visual similarities to Walter Sobchak.
  • Science Marches On: The game's Backstory has most life on Earth wiped out by the impact of 99942 Apophis, a 330-meter asteroid discovered in 2004 and then determined to have a decent chance (1:37) of hitting Earth in 2036. Since the game came out the impact odds have been revised significantly downward, to the point where NASA no longer considers it a credible threat: it's most likely going to miss us by roughly a third of the Earth's orbital radius.
  • What Could Have Been: according to the developers. Rage was intended to have had five or six smaller wastelands rather then two large ones, at least with the overall memory size, but it wound up being cut down due to consoles much more limited storage space(the 360 version already had three discs and the PS3 struggled to fit everything on just one disc) With each new DVD, the distribution costs rose even higher per unit, so iD Software was forced to restructure the game's content to fit within three DVDs for the Xbox version and one for the PS3 version. It should be noted that the developers clarified that no content was actually cut from the game , as the content that was supposed to be in the other wastelands was integrated into the two wastelands that made it into the final game.
