- Celebrity Voice Actor: Antonio Banderas, Salma Hayek, Zach Galifianakis, to name the main.
- Kids' Meal Toy: McDonald's released a set of six figures in their Happy Meals, which consisted of two different variants of Puss, Kitty, two different variants of Humpty Dumpty, and the Great Terror. Some regions also had a second variant of Kitty and the Golden Goose.
- Milestone Celebration: This film was released ten years after the release of the original Shrek film.
- Multiple Languages, Same Voice Actor: As in the previous films, Antonio Banderas voices Puss for both Spanish dubs (Spain and Mexico). Joining him are Salma Hayek (Kitty) and Guillermo del Toro (the Comandante), who also voice their characters in their native languages.
- Playing Against Type: Zach Galifianakis as the Big Bad Manipulative Bastard!
- Same Voice Their Entire Life: Antonio Banderas and Zach Galifianakis also voice their characters in the flashback to their childhood. The Vocal Dissonance is particularly jarring when hearing Puss as a kitten speaking with his adult voice.
- What Could Have Been: According to a deleted scene on the DVD, there was supposed to be a giant; he took the place of the mother goose. Some of the actions from the scene, such as Puss stabbing the giant's finger and later blinding him with his own eye patch, would later be used for the opening fight against the Giant of Del Mar in The Last Wish.
