- Bonus Material: Many of Psikyo's games that have been ported to consoles usually have this as part of the credits or as Unlockable Content. One example is the Sega Saturn edition of Sengoku Blaze, which has 2 CDs, the first one with the game, and the second one with artworks and designs from the game series.
- Completely Different Title: The Sengoku Ace series has this. The change from Sengoku Ace (Vertical Scrolling Shooter with Those Magnificent Flying Machines) to Sengoku Blade (Horizontal Scrolling Shooter with Magical Flying Humans) is HUGE, to say the least.
- Creator-Driven Successor: Psikyo's entire line of vertical shmups are essentially this to the first Aero Fighters. The first Gunbird and Sengoku Ace were indistinguishable from it gameplay-wise, featuring the same format and mechanic, down to the final power-up level having limited ammo.
- Strictly Formula: Starting with Strikers 1945, Psikyo's games started to add hooks to differentiate themselves, but the game still adhered to a rigid formula: the first three or four stages ate randomly ordered each playthrough, the player character has four power-up levels, stages are short, bosses have multiple phases, usually going from a vehicle to a more humanod or animalistic form, etc. Quite tellingly, every games from Gunbird to Dragon Blaze used the same power-up/bombs and bullets sprites.
- Same Face, Different Name: One of the last Cho Aniki games was developed by Psikyonote few time before NCS went to bankruptcy. The final result was a typical Psikyo shmup using the Cho Aniki franchise.
- Being made by the same group of creators, Yatagarasu is this to Daraku Tenshi.
- Dye Hard: Ayin's first appearance was in the first Strikers 1945 and had brown hair. After becoming a major character in Sengoku Ace series, Ayin gained blond hair for the rest of his appearances in Psikyo games.
- Genre Popularizer: Because of its games, Psikyo became a major name in regards to shmups.
- Similarly Named Works: Medieval European Fantasy Shoot 'Em Up Dragon Blaze has the same name than a 2-D sidescrolling role-playing game for Mobile.
