• Acting for Two: Matt Shipman voices both General Morgan “Wild Boar” Elizabeth as well as Captain Kelleher, Ronin Team’s CO.
• Contest Winner Cameo: Kickstarter backers have their names appear in-game as aces and ships. The Chimera's design is based on fanart provided by /aceg/.
• Creator Backlash: The head writer, Matthew "FlyAwayNow" Nguyen, expressed dissastifaction with the way Crimson 1's character arc turned out. However, upon seeing how the fanbase worships Crimson 1, FAN eventually played along with them. FAN also admits that he screwed up with the portrayals of both Sicario and the Federation, as he intended for everyone in the story to be morally gray, only to flub it and end up with a mostly heroic Sicario/CIF coalition and a cartoonishly evil Federation.
• Dummied Out:
  • Some planes present in trailers were cut out of the final version due to the developers lacking time to properly implement them (or in case of F-22 Raptor, was deliberately changed for the final game into VX-23 so it doesn't look like the actual Raptor). Datamining revealed that most of their assets are still in the game files and, while Sector D2 has promised to implement them later, modders have already started working on it.
  • There are a series of dialogues recorded by the voice actors stored in the game files, but are not used. Most of the audio files are small chatter, but there is a large cache of audio dedicated to the Presidia ground combat in the 20th mission "Presidia", as well as the cut level "Pride of a Nation".
• Invisible Advertising: Unlike the main game, which was promoted with demos and years-and-months long buildup before the late 2020 release, the Playstation 5 port, subtitled Frontline 59 and features exclusive Federation POV missions, was released in early October without much announcement apart from launch-day blogs on Playstation website and a surprise update for the Steam version.
• Promoted Fanboy: According to the head writer "FlyAwayNow", the voice actors for both Master Goose 1 and Crimson 1 were found on Project Wingman's discord during the game's development.
• Word of Saint Paul: The voice actors for several characters are quite active on the official Discord server, and have expanded on their characters. The general agreement is that what they say about their character is generally canon unless the writer outright says otherwise.
  • According to Galaxy's voice actor, the Galaxy crew has a pet cat named "Spooky" aboard their plane.
  • Prez’s voice actor states that her character’s Trademark Favorite Food are microwaved chicken pot pies.
  • In an overlap with Word of God, Comic's voice actress not only confirmed that Comic and Diplomat are a couple (albeit a very private, down-low one), but badgered the lead writer into canonizing it as well.
• Star-Making Role: For Madeline Dorroh, as immediately after Project Wingman, she voices Melty Pristis in the Visual Novel adaptation of Re:Zero, The Prophecy of the Throne, and Yu Takasaki in Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club.
• Wag the Director: Ben Balmaceda designed Diplomat's emblem personally. Matthew Nguyen/Fly Away Now also revealed that Ben only joined production on the condition that Diplomat got to fly an MG-29.
• What Could Have Been: From information in the game files, there is a cut level titled "Pride of a Nation" between the in-game Mission 20 "Presidia" and Mission 21 "Kings", where after Crimson 1 causes the Presidia Disaster, Hitman team fights against the remaining members of the renegade Crimson Squadron, who are after Hitman team in an almost-suicidal drive to avenge their downed pilots. Prez would experience G-LOC in this mission and, after defeating Crimson Squadron, Diplomat and Comic would both be shot down by Crimson 1 as like the final story played out.

  • The head writer for Project Wingman has also contributed numerous tidbits of information while visiting the Discord server.
  • According to the game's writer, Sicario has a pet opossum named "Our Lawyer".
