Trivia / Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid

Go To

  • Acting for Two:
    • Beyond just the regular examples provided by having most of the voice actors play multiple characters, Carrie Keranen provides an interesting example by voicing Poisandra and her Assist Character Sledge.
    • Kyle Hebert pulls triple duty as the voices of the Magna Defender, Shadow Ranger, and Ryu/Crimson Hawk Ranger. It's possible to form a team of all three.
  • Ascended Fanon: "Green Ranger V2," an armored version of the Green Ranger from an episode of Super Power Beat Down, reappears here as an alternate skin. (It had previously been seen in Power Rangers: Legacy Wars, made by the same developer.)
  • Beam Me Up, Scotty!: Kimberly's pre-fight dialogue has her say, "You know what they say, too much pink power is dangerous," referencing a meme within the fandom. Unfortunately, the correct line is, "Too much pink energy is dangerous."
  • Content Leak: The game's announcement trailer and press release were leaked not long before their official announcement.
  • Cross-Dressing Voices: Carrie Keranen as Sledge.
  • Milestone Celebration: Befitting an Intra-Franchise Crossover, this game was released during the 25th anniversary of the franchise.
  • No Export for You: The game is region-locked out of East Asian territories where Super Sentai is marketed instead of Power Rangers. Console players in those regions can import a physical copy of the Super Edition but PC players do not have this get-around and are thus barred from playing the game.
  • The Original Darrin:
  • The Other Darrin:
    • Rather than Amy Jo Johnson, Kimberly is voiced by Meghan Camarena (a.k.a. Strawburry17).
    • Carrie Keranen replaces Barbara Goodson, the late Thuy Trang, Erin Cahill, Jackie Clarke, and Adam Gardiner in the respective roles of Rita Repulsa (story mode only), Trini, Jen, Poisandra and Sledge.
    • Kyle Hebert replaces Kerrigan Mahan as the Magna Defender (which is odd, as Mahan voices Goldar in the game and thus was clearly available), John Tui as the Shadow Ranger, and Robert Axelrod as Finster (well, Finster 5).
    • Robert Axelrod, while still alive when Lord Zedd was released, was not in the best of health at the time, necessitating a replacement. Unlike the others, said replacement is not known.
    • Brad Hawkins did not return to voice Trey of Triforia, being replaced by another voice actor. Like Zedd, his replacement voice is unknown.
    • David de Lautour doesn't reprise the role of RJ (the Wolf Ranger), which is a shame since having him would have meant both Vergils would have been in the same game otherwise.
    • Melissa Flores, a producer on Power Rangers Beast Morphers, voices Gia the Yellow Super Megaforce Ranger, replacing Ciara Hanna.
    • Amanda Kruse replaces Michelle Langstone and the late Peta Rutter as the voices of Kat Manx and Udonna respectively.
  • Pre-Order Bonus: Pre-ordering got you the previously-mentioned exclusive "Green Ranger V2" skin and a digital art book.
  • Role Reprise:
  • Sleeper Hit: The game was released to moderate fanfare and lukewarm reviews in 2019, but as nWay dedicated more time to updating it with more content, the game started to gain increasingly positive word-of-mouth among members of the Fighting Game Community. When nWay kickstarted the professional online circuit in early 2020, the game ended up experiencing a renaissance among avid FGC regulars, with regular online tournaments taking place throughout the rest of the year.
  • Swan Song: Battle for the Grid marked Jason David Frank's final performance as Tommy Oliver.
