Trivia / Pink Panther's Passport to Peril

Go To

  • Acting for Two: Both Pink and Louie are played by Michael Sinterniklaas.
  • Completely Different Title:
    • The Polish-dubbed title is Na kłopoty Pantera (For Troubles Panther) which is a Shout-Out to an old Polish TV series Na kłopoty Bednarski (For Troubles Bednarski).
    • The Swedish-dubbed version of the game is called Resa på egen risk, meaning "[to] travel at one's own risk".
    • The Spanish-dubbed title went for "Dangerous Mission", which might seem generic in English, but in Spanish itself is a witty nod to the series' old tradition of including "Pink" in every title of the classic cartoons ("Misión Pelig-rosa")
  • Executive Meddling: Defied to the highest order. According to one of the game's researchers, Paul Golin, the UN representatives for Bhutan explicitly forbade Wanderlust from mentioning the nation's prejudice towards immigrants from Nepal. They put an article in the PDA about it anyways.
  • Keep Circulating the Tapes: When Wanderlust Interactive (then Adrenalin Interactive) shut down in 2001, they sold the rights off to Octagon Interactive. Which, through a series of sales, ended up under Disney Interactive. However, both Passport to Peril and Hokus Pokus Pink were given ScummVM support in early 2023.
  • The Other Darrin:
    • None of the cast from the 1993 cartoon reprise their roles for the game. According to Sinterniklaas, Wanderlust was unable to afford Matt Frewer to reprise his role as Pink, so MGM opened auditions for a replacement. Sinterniklaas, who was already working for Wanderlust, was recommended by his manager to audition under a pseudonym, which led to him getting the part of the panther.
    • In the Swedish dub of the 1993 cartoon, the Pink Panther was dubbed by Steve Kratz. The game uses the voice of Andreas Nilsson, which sounds entirely different.
  • Technology Marches On: Before flying to London, Von Schmarty gives Pink a PDA (Pink Digital Assistant), which also doubles as a videophone. This was back when cell phones were considered a luxury.
