- Acting for Two: Peter Kay as both Brian Potter and Max. He actually played several roles (including Keith Laird in episode 3), but they were the two main ones.
- Creator Backlash: Daniel Kitson [Spencer] said he regretted appearing in the show. Unfortunately for him, he said this before the DVD Commentary for Series 2 was recorded which gave Kay and co. plenty of opportunities to slate Kitson.
- DVD Commentary: Both series has hilarious commentaries for all the episodes feature Peter Kay, Paddy McGuinness and various other cast members. Both Kay and McGuinness did a commentary for 'That Peter Kay Thing' which involved Craig Cash of The Royle Family fame.
- Orphaned Reference: An abandoned subplot was that Brian Potter could actually walk. The only remnants of this are Brian making an unaided and suspiciously quick change between chairs in the first episode and him standing up at the end of the "In The Club" episode of That Peter Kay Thing.
- What Could Have Been: Peter Kay claims to have written a third series. Dave Spikey claims that the ideas were there, but it was discarded in favour of Max and Paddy's Road to Nowhere. There were even talks of reviving the series with a feature film following the success of The Inbetweeners.
