Trivia / Pecola

Go To

  • Children Voicing Children: Austin Di Iulio as the voice of the title character.
  • Crossdressing Voices:
    • Miriam McDonald voices Chewy.
    • In the Japanese dub, Pecola is voiced by Mayumi Asano.
  • He Also Did: Series creator Naomi Iwata was also behind Gregory Horror Show, which shares the same papercraft character designs.
  • International Coproduction: Between Japan's Yomiko Advertising and Canada's Nelvana.
  • Keep Circulating the Tapes: It had only aired in the US on Cartoon Network for a short time in 2003 and Indonesia (also Middle East) on Spacetoon in 2005-2008; but now averted by Nelvana uploading the episodes to their Treehouse Direct channel on YouTube (as they own the distribution rights to the show), as well as reruns airing on Qubo. It is also available on Amazon Prime via the Ameba addon. The series has been released in full on DVD in Japan and select episodes in France.
  • The Merch: Pecola did have merchandise like books, keychains, plushes, calendars and even a game for the Sega Pico, though all of it was released only in Japan.
  • Missing Episode: For reasons unknown, the Treehouse Direct uploads not only ignore "Yo! Pecola/Great Cubes of Fire", but outright mislabel other episodes as being that episode.
  • Only So Many Canadian Actors: Asides from featuring many of the familiar names in Toronto voice acting (especially those who have shown up in previous Nelvana cartoons), the show also stars actors who would later become better known for Degrassi: The Next Generation like Jake Goldsbie and Miriam McDonald.
  • Word of Saint Paul: Cori's age is not clear as she is implied to be an adult despite hanging out with Pecola and friends in the opening titles. Some of the promotional images on the Pecola Wiki from the now-defunct Pecola.net and TV Tokyo websites even claim she's fourteen years old.
