Trivia / Pat Benatar

Go To

  • Breakaway Pop Hit: "Invincible", from the movie The Legend of Billie Jean.
  • Creator Couple: Benatar is married to her long-time lead guitarist Neil Giraldo. When Benatar was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2022, Giraldo was included in her nomination and they went in as a duo.
  • Dawson Casting: She played a teenage runaway in the "Love Is a Battlefield" video when she was 30 years old, and in that song she repeatedly sings about how "we are young".
  • Distanced from Current Events: Following the mass shootings in Buffalo and Uvalde in May 2022, Pat announced she would no longer perform "Hit Me With Your Best Shot" live for the time being.
  • Executive Meddling:
    • Her label tried to force her to continue recording when she told them (at the peak of her popularity) that she was taking time off to have a baby.
    • An ad the record company used promoting Crimes Of Passion released without her knowledge used the album cover as a backdrop—with her tank top airbrushed to make her look like she was topless underneath. This infuriated Pat, and she and Neil took more control of her career and image from that point.
  • Rarely Performed Song: Despite being a fan-favorite, Benatar removed "Hit Me with Your Best Shot" from her setlist in 2022 out of respect for the victims of all the mass shootings that occurred that year, explaining that even though the title lyric was metaphorical and tongue-in-cheek, its literal resonance with current events made it too uncomfortable for her to sing with a smile on her face.
