• All-Star Cast: The miniseries seemed bent on outsizing every 'All-Star Cast' to come before. Hence Wayne Newton as an evil prison warden.
• Fake American: English actress Leslie-Anne Down portrays Madeline.
• Romance on the Set:
  • James Read and Wendy Kilbourne fell in love while filming Book 1 and would marry over a year later after the airing of Book 2 and they still remain as husband and wife. This explains why the chemistry between ther characters George Hazard and Constance Flynn felt so real and moved smoothly within the story.
  • Lesley-Anne Down met her eventual third husband, who was a member of the crew, during the filming. They were both still married to other people at the time, and their relationship ended both of their marriages. They eventually married in 1986.
  • Genie Francis and Jonathan Frakes had worked together on a previous miniseries before getting together when they met again for filming Book 1. They married in 1988.
  • Terri Garber met her first husband while he too was part of the crew. However, their marriage only lasted a few years, 1985-1989.
• The Other Darrin:
  • The part of Billy Hazard was recast for Book Two.
  • The actor playing Charles Main was recast with Kyle Chandler in the third Book.
  • Finally, the part of Isabel is played by a total of three(!) actresses.
