Trivia / Need for Speed Heat

Go To

  • Celebrity Voice Actor: The male voice actor of the Player Character (who also provided the motion capture and one of the character models) is none other than Andrew Lawrence. Yep. That's right. You get to play as the man who voiced T.J. freakin' Detweiler!note
  • Creator Killer: Despite being better received than the 2015 reboot and Payback, it seems Heat's improvement came too little too late, as EA decided to move the Need for Speed license back to Criterion Games and reduce Ghost Games back to a support studio, even having them resume using their old name EA Gothenburg. In addition, several Ghost Games staff who worked on this game have moved back to Criterion, who elected to give the game just one final update that only added cross-platform multiplayer support and bunch of bug fixes before moving on to work on the next NFS entry.
  • The Danza: Ana Rivera is played by Ana Marte.
  • Fake Nationality: The Riveras are stated to be Cuban-Americans, but Ana Rivera's actress Ana Marte is actually of Dominican ancestry.
  • Milestone Celebration: After all, it's 25 years of Need for Speed, right? It definitely paid off when this is superior to the 2015 reboot and Payback. Well worth the celebration, Ghost Games.
  • Official Fan-Submitted Content:
    • The cover car is one of four pre-order exclusive vehicles that were designed by Khyzyl Saleem.
    • A more literal example came with the launch trailer: a contest to see cars customized in the Studio to be put in the role of the Polestar 1 in said trailer. A earlier, similar contest was also made for the other cars, though this one was more universal than limited to a customized variation.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • Data miners have found leftover code for the game mentioning a possible inclusion of bikes as playable vehicles. It was later on confirmed that Ghost experimented with a possible inclusion of them in the game before scrapping the idea altogether. According to a member of the staff at Ghost Games, they will not be making bikes as Downloadable Content for Heat.
    • Both the classic Ford Roadster and the Beck Kustoms F132 that were previously from 2015 and Payback were removed from the game, though both are accessible from the game files.
    • There was also a Dodge Charger SRT-8 which was almost completed but not made to the final game.
    • There are also some unreleased K.S. Edition cars like the custom Lamborghini Countach and Aventador as well as the riced Land Rover Defender (with exhausts on the frickin' hood!) These custom cars would later become body kits applies to all the cars mentioned in the next game, Unbound.
    • A post by a UI artist revealed that the Black Market DLC was supposed to have a second drop that would have included a Bugatti Chiron Sport (which would've maked Bugatti's return to the franchise since Rivals) alongside the 2018 Lamborghini Aventador SV Roadster. The Chiron would eventually make its debut (returning Bugatti to the franchise in the process) in the next game, Unbound.

  • Beginning with its final update on June 9, 2020, Need for Speed Heat is the first Electronic Arts game to support cross-platform play.
