* CreatorKiller: Despite being better received than the 2015 reboot and ''Payback'', ''Heat'' still disappointed enough that [[Creator/ElectronicArts EA]] decided to move the ''Need for Speed'' license back to Creator/CriterionGames and reduce Ghost Games back to a support studio, even having them resume using their old name Creator/EAGothenburg. In addition, several Ghost Games staff who worked on this game have moved back to Criterion, who elected to give the game just one final update that only added cross-platform multiplayer support and bunch of bug fixes before moving on to work on the next ''NFS'' entry.

** Although Palm City is the name of the game's location, there is a similar name to that from the franchise called "Palm City ''Island''", a track from ''Hot Pursuit 2''.
** On the other hand, the name is also closely similar to Palm'''ont''' City, the setting in ''Carbon''. Though their law enforcement is named "Palmont Police Department" and not "Palmont City Police Department", otherwise it would lead into confusion with "Palm City Police Department".
** It also shares its name with Palm ''Harbor'', one of the locations that formed Tri-City Bay, the setting of ''Undercover''.

** There are also some unreleased K.S. Edition cars like the custom Lamborghini Countach and Aventador as well as the riced Land Rover Defender (with exhausts on the '''frickin' hood'''!)

* CelebrityVoiceActor: The male voice actor of the PlayerCharacter (who also provided the motion capture and one of the character models) is none other than Creator/AndrewLawrence. Yep. That's right. * WhatCouldHaveBeen: Data miners have found leftover code for the game mentioning a possible inclusion of bikes as playable vehicles. It was later on confirmed that Ghost experimented with a possible inclusion of them in the game before scrapping the idea altogether. According to one of the staff at Ghost Games, they will not be making bikes as DownloadableContent for ''Heat''.
