- Cast the Expert: Several streetballers were hired to motion capture all of the flashy moves used in the games. Hot Sauce, a veteran of the AND1 Mixtape Tour, motion captured all of the moves for his in-game self.
- Follow the Leader: After NBA Jam gained popularity, Electronic Arts created their own version but with a streetball setting, titled NBA Street, which spawned three sequels. Midway, after losing the Jam license, eventually retaliated by making their version of NBA Street, this time with a glam rap setting and a fully-fledged storyline.
