Trivia / My Sister, My Writer

  • Banned in China: This is one of the anime series that got the banhammer on Russia after the government's media watchdog Roskomnadzor decided to ban Crunchyroll after they discovered they didn't rate their series properly.
  • Portmanteau Series Nickname "ImoImo", which is taken from the full title of Ore ga Suki nano wa Imōto dakedo Imōto ja nai.
  • Troubled Production: There are a lot of indications that the anime adaptation had a very difficult production. If the low animation quality isn't a big enough tip-off, compare the credits in episodes 1 and 2, and notice the number of names that appear within the art direction and key animation roles (作画監督 and 原画 respectively). Between those two episodes, less than a quarter of the people in art direction of episode 1 are credited in episode 2, and the key animator for episode 2 not only didn't play any role in the first, but was also singlehandedly managing the second episode's animation in its entirety (the episode's key animation was instead relegated to regular Toei Animation contractor Buyu). Further demonstrated in a later episode in which one of the animators was credited as 正直困太 ("Shoujiki Komatta"). That's not a real person's name - it instead translates to "We're in serious trouble". The subsequent rants from the animators on Twitter about being underpaid further confirm the production issues.
