Trivia / Moonlight Syndrome

Go To

  • Acting in the Dark: According to Suda, the voice actors had no context for what was going on, and were confused by the dialogue they were given.
  • Fan Translation: As of July 2023, a completed one is available in the form of a subtitled longplay hosted on the YouTube channel Paradise Hotel 51, translated by Jolovey based on an earlier partial translation by izzeybee while also incorporating aRdW's earlier translated script for Twilight Syndrome's "Prank" bonus chapter, which was largely reused for the beginning of Chapter 4 in this game. A playable romhack was also announced in the Iwakura Productions blog in 2020, but hasn't put out any further updates since.
  • Multi-Disc Work: Two discs of pure terror, mainly because of the overabundance of voice acting.
  • No Budget: While not confirmed, the game's production values took a downgrade compared to the previous Twilight Syndrome installments, which utilized digitized actors and a more cleaner pixellated art style. Moonlight, in comparison, used simple 3D models and still images for a majority of its cutscenes.
  • No Export for You: As documented on the main page, Moonlight never saw a release outside of Japan. Though considering the entire franchise has also suffered the same fate, it's not very surprising.
  • Torch the Franchise and Run: This was the final Twilight Syndrome related title to be made by Human Entertainment, and it ends with most of the main characters either dead or insane. While the franchise would continue under Spike, it's set in a different timeline that continues on from the ending of Kyūmei-hen and ignores Moonlight entirely. Ironically, Moonlight would be the first entry in what would become Suda's "Kill the Past" series.
