Trivia / Mobile Suit Gundam F91

• No Export for You: Do you want to read the novelization by Tomino to get a better understanding of the series? They've never been translated, despite the movie getting dubbed, so your only real option is to learn Japanese and import a copy.
• What Could Have Been: It was supposed to be a full-length series, but production was snagged due to staff disputes and was ultimately canned. Then it was decided that what was already made would be made into a movie instead, so we get treated to the a highly condensed version of what was supposed to have been the first quarter of a fifty episode show. Made even more "what could" when looking at Mobile Suit Crossbone Gundam.
  • To elaborate, 13 episodes were scripted around the time the series was canned - if you pay attention, it's pretty easy to see where an episode begins and ends. Tomino's novelization offers a better explanation of the events in the movie, and it's possible that had they decided to use the 13 episodes scripted out for an OVA series instead of a movie, they would've been closer to what happens in the novels.
  • A MSV release showed some planned upgrades to the F91, among which were one that gave it 4 VSBR rifles, pretty overkill considering the effect it had with just 2, and another take on the long line of "Heavy Weapons Systems" variants of Gundams which seems to be shorthand for "put as many guns and missile launchers on it that the frame can handle without killing performance too badly".
