Trivia / Mickey Mouse Works

For trivia related to House of Mouse, go here.

  • Banned Episode: The Mickey Mouse Works short "Minnie Takes Care of Pluto" was pulled from the airwaves because of the disturbing premise of Pluto having a paranoid fear of Minnie trying to kill him and a scene where Pluto is in Hell. As a result, it is one of the two Mouse Works shorts that were never used in an episode of House of Mouse, alongside "Pluto Gets the Paper: Vending Machine", which was presumed that some events of this short sparked concern for the health and safety of young viewers.
  • Keep Circulating the Tapes: Only a handful of shorts have been released on home video:
    • Two "Pluto Gets the Paper" quickies were released on concurrent home video releases of Disney movies:
      • "Street Cleaner" was released on the 1999 VHS release of 101 Dalmatians.
      • "Bubble Gum" was released on the 1999 VHS release of The Rescuers.
    • Some Mickey-centric shorts were released in Europe on a DVD called "Mickey's Laugh Factory", which contains the following shorts:
      • "Hickory Dickory Mickey"
      • "Mickey Tries to Cook"
      • "Organ Donors"
      • "Mickey's Airplane Kit"
      • "Pluto Gets the Paper: Street Cleaner"
      • "Mickey's New Car"
      • "Pluto Gets the Paper: Bubble Gum"
      • "Mickey's Big Break"
      • "Mickey's Mix-Up"
    • "Around the World In 80 Days" was released on DVD in 2005 as part of the Disney Learning Adventures line of videos, which also features "Mickey's Mechanical House" as a bonus.
    • In 2008, the eighth wave of Walt Disney Treasures was released. One of the sets released in this wave was "The Chronological Donald, Volume Four", which contains the last set of Donald shorts released (from 1951 onward). As bonus features, a handful of Donald-centric shorts from both Mouse Works and House of Mouse was included on the set as well. They include the following:
      • "Bird Brained Donald"
      • "Donald and the Big Nut"
      • "Donald's Charmed Date"
      • "Donald's Failed Fourth"
      • "Donald's Rocket Ruckus"
      • "Donald's Shell Shots"
      • "Donald's Valentine Dollar"
      • "Music Store Donald"
      • "Survival of the Woodchucks"
    • Just like the above-mentioned House of Mouse, Mickey Mouse Works is currently not available on Disney+. Only time will tell if it will be available.
  • Missing Episode: "Minnie Takes Care of Pluto" and "Pluto Gets the Paper: Vending Machine" are the only two Mouse Works shorts to never be used in House of Mouse, the former because of its aforementioned disturbing content and the latter because of unknown reasons (presumably due to health concerns, despite the fact the series had a lot of Hilarity Ensues going on).
  • The Other Darrin:
    • This is the first animated work in which April Winchell replaced the late Elvia Allman as Clarabelle Cow. She became Clarabelle's regular voice from there.
    • Tress MacNeille replaced Diane Michelle as the voice of Daisy starting with season 2 and would assume the role of Daisy for future Disney media since then.
    • Tress MacNeille also voices Dale in this series, replacing Corey Burton. This is despite Burton returning as Ludwig von Drake and providing various other voices.
    • Some of John Cleese's narration for "The Nutcracker" is actually Jeff Bennett employing his Cleese impression.
  • Recycled Script: "Mickey's Airplane Kit" and "Car Washers" are rehashes of the black-and-white shorts "Plane Crazy" and "Mickey's Service Station".

Miscellaneous:

  • Mickey Mouse Works was Disney's first animated show to be produced in widescreen High Definition, despite being made years before the format became dominant.
