• In Memoriam: The film was dedicated to Nica Rogers, a real-life gang member from Echo Park (she appeared in a few scenes) who died of a drug overdose at 19 years old just a few months before the film's release. Her young son Ruben was subsequently adopted by Allison Anders, the film's producer.
