• Acting for Two:
  • In the English dub:
    • Besides reprising her role as Miranda, Lisa Ortiz voices Neesha.
    • Carter Cathcart voices James, Meowth and Fergus.
    • Ted Lewis voices Giovanni and Corey.
  • In the Latin American Spanish dub, Gerardo Vásquez once again voices the narrator and Meowth.
• Celebrity Voice Actor: As in the original, Mewtwo is voiced by veteran actor Masachika Ichimura and Miranda by enka singer Sachiko Kobayashi.
• The Danza: As was the case in the movie this is a remake of, Raymond, the pirate trainer Ash faces at the beginning, is voiced by Raymond Johnson for the Japanese release.
• Directed by Cast Member:
  • In the English dub, Lisa Ortiz is the ADR director and the voice of Neesha and Miranda.
  • The Latin American Spanish dub was directed by Miguel Ángel Leal, who has been Ash's voice actor since 2010.
  • The French dub was directed by Jean-Marc Delhausse, who also reprised his role as Mewtwo.
• International Coproduction: The film was produced by OLM in Tokyo, Japan, and Sprite Animation Studios in Los Angeles, California.
• Lying Creator: The marketing for the movie stated for a while that the Armored Mewtwo design would only appear in this movie and nowhere else; cue Pokémon GO revealing a trailer in which Armored Mewtwo will be available as a limited time raid, and again for the international release.
• Meaningful Release Date: The film's Netflix premiere occurred on February 27, 2020, in celebration of the Pokémon franchise's 24th anniversary.
• The Other Darrin:
  • Minoru Inaba voices Dr. Fuji instead of Yosuke Akimoto.
  • Fergus, Corey and Neesha are respectively voiced by Hiroyuki Yoshino, Hiroshi Kamiya and Ayane Sakura instead of Wataru Takagi, Tōru Furuya and Aiko Sato.
  • In the English dub, Dan Green and Billy Bob Thompson respectively replace Jay Goede as Mewtwo and Dr. Fuji, while Lisa Ortiz replaces Amy Birnbaum as Neesha in addition to reprising her role as Miranda. Also, Raymond's voice actor was changed due to Maddie Blaustein's death.
  • For the Latin American Spanish dub, Luis Leonardo Suárez replaces the late Enrique Mederos as Mewtwo due to the latter succumbing to hepatitis in 2004. The same goes for Dr. Fuji, who is voiced by Germán Fabregat after Esteban Siller died in 2013.
  • In the French dub, almost all the characters who appeared in the first movie have different voice actors here, with the only exceptions being Ash, Misty, Brock, Mewtwo, Jessie, and James.
• Posthumous Credit: The remake was released after the deaths of both Takeshi Shudō, the first film's original writer who succumbed to a subarachnoid hemorrhage in 2010, and Unshō Ishizuka, the voice of the narrator who died of esophageal cancer in 2018.
• Production Lead Time: There was enough of a gap between production and release that Unshō Ishizuka was able to record the film's narration five months before dying of esophageal cancer in August 2018.
• Role Reprise:
  • Sachiko Kobayashi, Masachika Ichimura and Kōichi Yamadera, the respective Japanese voice actors of Miranda, Mewtwo and Mew, reprise their roles 21 years after the first film's release.
  • In the English dub, Dan Green returned as Mewtwo 19 years after voicing him in Pokémon: Mewtwo Returns. Also, Lisa Ortiz, Carter Cathcart and Ted Lewis respectively reprise their roles as Miranda, Fergus and Corey.
  • In the Latin Spanish dub, Ana Lobo and Eduardo Garza once again reprise their respective roles as Neesha and Raymond.
  • In the Italian dub, Mario Zucca also reprises the role of Mewtwo. Also Guilherme Briggs in Brazilian Portuguese and Jean-Marc Delhausse in French.
  • The Danish dub managed to bring almost all of the voice actors from Pokémon: The First Movie back. This is especially noteworthy because Brock and Misty's voice actors (Peter Holst-Beck and Lulu Jacobsen) had retired from dubbing several years ago. Mewtwo is actually the only major character whose voice actor is replaced (from Søren Spanning to Kasper Leisner, as Spanning died two weeks before the film's release).
  • The Norwegian dub managed to bring back the old voice-actors of Brock and Giovanni, which is weird since both of them got replaced years ago in the show.
  • The Finnish dub managed to bring back the original voice actors for Mewtwo and Brock, with Mewtwo's voice actor Jussi Lampi returning to the role for the first time since the original film which was 20 years ago. He was replaced by Pasi Ruohonen (the Narrator) in Mewtwo Returns. Brock's original voice actor Juha Paananen was replaced by Jari Salo during season 7 and onwards. Also Pasi Ruohonen returns as the Narrator and Corey respectively. Ruohonen voiced the Narrator and many side characters from season 1-17.
  • The Croatian dub most notably brings back the voice actors of Ash Ketchum (Saša Buneta), Mewtwo (Sven Medvešek), Jessie (Mila Elegović) and James (Hrvoje Klobučar) from the original. Meowth and Misty get a different form of role reprisal; while their voice actors in the new movie do not match the ones in the original, these new ones did voice their respective characters in the TV series at some given point before this movie was released.
• Swan Song: This film was Unshō Ishizuka's final performance as the Pokémon narrator before his passing in 2018 at age 67.
