- An enemy named Drillun is present in the game's prototype, and even has official artwork, but is completely unused in the final game.
- Sprites of the Picopico-kun from Mega Man 2 are in the game's data, but it doesn't appear in the game at all.
- Promoted Fanboy: According to Keiji Inafune, the project leader at Minakuchi Engineering was a huge fan of Mega Man and really understood what made the games work. Inafune credits him as the reason the game turned out as well as it did.
