Trivia / Masters of the Maze

Go To

  • Hey, It's That Sound!: At one point during the "Special Journey" segment at the end of each show, the "derez" sound effect from TRON can be heard.
    • The buzz-in noise in the season 1 front game was previously used on the 1990-91 revival of The Joker's Wild (also produced by Kline and Friends).
    • The "time's up" noise in season 2 sounds like a copy of the time's up noise from Jeopardy!.
  • Keep Circulating the Tapes: As per usual for a Family Channel series; the rights would now be held by Disney. GSN apparently had rerun rights at one point, having had it on a "Feast of Favorites" poll around 2002, but that didn't happen. And of the episodes that circulate, they don't tend to be in very good quality.
  • No Budget: Clearly, any budget the show did have went into the aesthetics. It tended to be par for the course on The Family Channel, though.
  • Prop Recycling: The "spinning diamond" animation seen on the Prize Mountain monitors in season 1 was recycled from an earlier Kline & Friends show, Strike It Rich.
  • The Other Darrin: Season 1 had the Lady of the Maze played by Renae Jacobs, who had herself been a contestant in 1985 on Sale of the Century; season 2 replaced her with Clea Montville.
  • What Could Have Been: An early article on the show refers to the show as TimeBomb, with the goal being to defuse a multi-level bomb and the Bonus Round being described as having teams competing.
