Trivia / Martian Gothic Unification

  • Creator Backlash: In an 2011 interview with Retroaction Magazine, game designer and writer Stephen Marley stated that he was unhappy with the final version due to the development team biting more than they can chew and the game having way too many puzzles.
  • Creator Killer: The game sold poorly, which wasn't helped by the mixed reviews. As a result, Creative Reality closed down.
  • Dummied Out:
    • After you place the explosives on the fissure and you race toward the escape shuttle, you're likely to see a short scene of Queen Mab/The Matriarch coming out of her tomb. Apparently, this was supposed to be the one boss fight in the game. However, even if you go where she appeared, you will not encounter her because her theoretical boss battle was never implemented.
    • Cut dialogue implying multiple endings indicate you were originally able to choose which of the three protagonists remained behind and sacrificed themselves so the other two can launch the shuttle and escape. In the final game, Karne ends up doing the Heroic Sacrifice no matter what.

  • Follow the Leader: One of the last games in the 1998-2000 wave of survival horror titles.
  • What Could Have Been: According to Marley, the developers planned on making both a sequel and prequel. Unfortunately, it never happened.
