Trivia / Lita

Go To

  • Awesome, Dear Boy: She cameo'd in a random segment on Raw involving Pee Wee Herman because she was a huge fan of his.
  • Breakup Breakout
    • She was once a valet for Essa Rios. Rios is now largely forgotten in America while Lita is currently immortalized in the WWE Hall of Fame.
    • Before that, in ECW, Miss Congeniality was the valet for "Dastardly" Danny Doring and "The Angry Amish Warrior" Roadkill until Sabu put her through a table to send her to WWE.
    • And somewhere in between she was one of the Godfather's hoes.
  • Contractual Purity: Said that one of the reasons she turned down an offer to pose for Playboy was because she had a lot of young girls as fans - and didn't want to set a bad example. By the time she became Hotter and Sexier as a heel, the majority of fans hated her guts in real life, so it wouldn't matter what she did then.
  • Creator Backlash:
    • Was very unhappy with the exit segment she had to do with Cryme Tyme. Years later she wondered why that in particular had to be her exit.
    • She was very annoyed at WWE's decision to not let women compete at an event in Saudi Arabia - specifically their statement that they would bring them over at a later date to help "progress their culture forward".
"Make the money, that’s fine, but don’t try to cover it up. Don’t say, “No, we are doing this because in the future we would like to help progress their culture forward!” No, you want the money, you’re a business and businesses make money. That’s okay."
    • The live sex celebration on Raw. She didn't want to do it but was forced into it. She later called it the worst thing she ever had to do in wrestling.
    • Inverted in another case. She expressed surprise that she got compliments for her work as Angelica and Miss Congeniality in ECW, feeling that she didn't even really know what she was doing at the time.
  • Follow the Leader: Because of the popularity of Team Xtreme, WWE started adding female members to existing tag teams so they could wrestle them in 6-person tag matches. Jacqueline joined the APA, Ivory the Right to Censor, Terri Runnels the Radicalz, and Molly Holly even debuted as the third of the Holly Cousins. Trish Stratus was already part of T&A but had her first matches in 6-person tags against Team Xtreme. Stacy Keibler later got added to the Dudley Boyz for similar reasons.
  • Hostility on the Set:
    • Ivory complained about working with Lita in the 2000s, viewing her as so green and unwilling to improve; feeling that their matches "had to fit into this little box", due to Lita's limited skills. There was also bad blood between them stemming from an infamous match where Ivory's boot accidentally cut Lita above the eye and led to a lot of blood.
    • Lita and Stacy Keibler got into a fight in a nightclub shortly after the latter joined the company in 2001. Stacy apparently got drunk and flirted with Matt Hardy, leading to an altercation. But she apologised the next day and they never had any trouble afterwards.
    • Subverted with Chyna. The latter hated wrestling in the women's division, but then told Lita that if she had to wrestle another woman, she was glad it was her.
  • Money, Dear Boy: Defied to an extent. She says that her last year in WWE became "just a paycheck" and she left partly for that reason.
  • Playing Against Type: The 2005-2006 period was the only time Lita played a full-on heel in her WWE career. (Her and Essa Rios were more tweeners than anything.)
  • Promoted Fan Boy: She decided to go to Mexico and train in Lucha Libre after seeing Rey Mysterio Jr. in WCW.
  • The Red Stapler: In the Attitude Era, her trademark thong accessory reportedly got a lot of Catholic school girls in trouble when they started wearing similar things under their uniforms.
  • Refitted for Sequel: The program that was planned for her and Mickie James got revisited in 2018 when she and Trish were put into a match against Mickie and Alexa Bliss for the Evolution PPV.
  • Romance on the Set: With CM Punk in 2008-10, then again around 2012. And before that the infamous Matt Hardy/Edge triangle.
  • Shrug of God: A rumor has gone around the internet that the Lita/Trish Stratus program from 2004-2005 was supposed to lead to a Ladder match at WrestleMania 21. Lita says she's heard talk that it was meant to happen, but doesn't know for sure.
  • Throw It In!:
    • A mistake was made after she won the Women's Championship from Stephanie McMahon on Raw; the Hardy Boyz were still new to wrestling live television, and got her out of the ring too fast before the camera crew could get a proper shot of her celebrating with the title belt. They then had an official celebration on Smackdown to make up for it.
    • When she returned from injury in 2003, she pulled off her top as a Shout-Out to Brandi Chastain famously doing it in soccer games.
  • What Could Have Been
    • Her role with Essa Rios was originally considered for Malia Hosaka and was initially named "Aphrodisia."
    • Her storyline with Chyna was meant to go on longer, presumably with Chyna eventually turning heel (which was being teased in the one match they had). Contrary to popular belief, Lita was not supposed to win the belt off Chyna at Judgment Day 2001. But Chyna chose to leave the company, cutting the feud short. Lita later confirmed that they were to have a three PPV program before Chyna decided to leave.
    • It's well-documented that Mickie James wrote her debut storyline with Lita in mind (as she had been a big fan). Lita suffered a torn ACL and was appearing as a heel valet to Edge, so the storyline was given to Trish Stratus instead.
    • Lita was one of many former Divas asked to participate in the battle royal at WrestleMania 25 but turned it down. Months later she said in an interview she was "dying laughing" watching the match.
    • CMLL would have been willing to take her back and Konnan was interested in taking her into AAA but she was burnt out after leaving WWE and so declined.
