Trivia / Lethal Company

  • Dummied Out: The facility on Experimentation actually has a partially modeled interior for the building in the overworld, possibly a holdover from an earlier time when Zeekerss may have planned for the facilities to have their interior be part of the overworld rather than teleport you to a different location. You can actually see part of this interior if you look through the windows on the front doors. The cut interior also connects with a secondary exit which may have been the original location of the fire exit, which is much higher up on the building's exterior than the fire exit is now.
    • The game's files include a model for a cut enemy called "Lasso Man"; a humanoid figure made of ropes.
    • Assets exist in the game files for several different Company Building monsters, though as of right now only the tentacle monster is implemented.
    • Pre-release footage of the game shows an elevator in the facility with a slot that the Apparatus would plug into, potentially requiring players to either remove the Apparatus and deal with the resultant darkness and lack of security doors in order to access deeper parts of the facility, or bring a previously-recovered Apparatus into the facility with them and risk losing it.
  • Game Mod: Dozens of mods exist for the game, available on the Thunderstore Unity game modding site. The most popular is probably More Company, which allows for crew sizes far larger than the default 4 (and adds small cosmetic items like hats and masks to help tell the extra crew apart), but mods of all kinds are available. For instance...
    • Changing the Bracken to Freddy Fazbear or Goku (complete with the Ultra Instinct theme), the Coil-Head to a literal Weeping Angel, and the ghost girl to Herobrine.
    • New cosmetic suits for you and your team to wear, some lore-friendly and some which let you cosplay as Kirby or Mario and Luigi...
    • Replacing the audio of the Hoarding Bugs to the "Yippie!" sound effect. Alternatively, changing the audio of the Hoarding Bugs to Mr. Krabs grumbling.
    • Additional emotes from salutes to clapping to hitting the griddy...
    • New maps like an abandoned SCP facility or a Minecraft world.
    • Anti-trolling measures (i.e. using the air horn or clown horn in excess has a chance to explode your head and kill you)...
    • Quality of Life improvements like the Late Game Upgrades modpack that fixes some of the frustration with the base vanilla game, like the infamous Malware Transmitter upgrade that lets you destroy turrets and mines (although there is still splash damage that will hurt anyone near the obstacles when it explodes from the malware) and a Locksmith upgrade that lets you open locked doors by playing a minigame instead of looking for the skeleton key.
    • New enemies like the Mimic (which pretends to be a fire exit door) or the Boomba (a moving landmine)...
    • Enemy behavior alterations such as the Masked Enemy Overhaul (which turns them into proper mimics indistinguishable from players) or the infamous Skinwalkers mod that allows the monsters to record voice clips from the crew's microphones and play them back later to trick or scare you)....
    • And trivial mods like ones that replace the ship's posters with images of Ryan Reynolds or furries.
    • Some mods like the Control Company mod, the Death Note mod (from the ChllaxSCRAPS modpack), and the immortality mod (from the late game upgrades mod pack) are even literal Game Breakers- the former enables a debug screen which lets you spawn and take control of any monsters including those that aren't supposed to appear on the existing map, gives you a teleport to exit/entrance cheat and the ability to go out-of-body and freely roam the facility or moon. The latter allows you to play death god and kill any enemy and co-worker alike, and the third one is Exactly What It Says on the Tin. Use of them outside of machinima making is highly frowned upon.
  • He Also Did: Lethal Company is not the first time Zeekerss has made a Horror Video Game, as they previously worked on It Steals, Dead Seater and The Upturned. But unlike Lethal Company those games were all singleplayer and had a relatively niche following. Even prior to those games, he had been making horror games on Roblox.
  • Urban Legend of Zelda: Rumors abound about various enemy behaviors, with several popular misunderstandings:
    • Dramatic Masks are rumored to be able to possess a player by forcing them to equip a mask in their inventory, possess anyone who dies while carrying them, or even move on their own to possess dead bodies, but this isn't true. Masks are entirely safe as long as you don't put them on yourself, but Masked can spawn on their own without needing a player to get possessed on Rend and Titan (and rarely on March), possibly leading to the confusion.
    • The Nutcracker's gun can allegedly be stolen while it's still alive, but if you succeed it will charge after you to kick you to death. This is not true either, though due to a bug a (nonfunctional) prompt to pick up the Nutcracker's gun will actually appear if you get close to it while it's alive.
    • Hitting a Hygrodere allegedly splits it into two. It does essentially nothing in reality.
    • The Backrooms-inspired room that sometimes generates in the facility is sometimes referred to as a "Bracken Room" because Brackens often choose to drop bodies there, and its presence is sometimes taken to mean a Bracken is active. This is just a coincidence caused by both the backroom and the room the Bracken randomly chooses to drop bodies in being programmed to spawn far from the main entrance.
    • On another note, there's rumors that the radiation warning that all players receive when removing the Apparatus item from its holder causes harm to players in the facility or causes monster spawns to increase. While it will cause up to two monsters to spawn inside the facility if less than two have already spawned (therefore making it unwise to remove it at the start of a run), usually all it does is turn off all the facility's power (meaning lights turn off and hydraulic doors unlock and can't be closed by the terminal anymore), though a mod exists that does add slow radiation damage.
