Trivia / Kishiryu Sentai Ryusoulger

Go To

  • Actor Allusion:
    • In episode 17, Wiserue utters "Muda muda muda muda!" (useless); his seiyuu, Hikaru Midorikawa, previously voiced Dio in the lost JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Phantom Blood movie, as well as the video game for the PlayStation 2.
    • In episode 21, Canalo tries to hit on Master Pink by offering her a rose while a romantic image of a full moon appears in the background. Master Pink was played by Miyuu Sawai, who is best known for playing the main character in Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon.
    • In episode 29, the Girl of the Week Yui is seen holding a green slipper; her actress, Hikaru Yamamoto, previously portrayed Akiko Narumi in Kamen Rider W where she would regularly smack protagonist Shotaro Hidari in the head with a green slipper.
    • In Episode 34, the Elder sports a bandana which has "Kaetekitta" written on it. His actor Jirou Dan, was famous for portraying Goh Hideki, the hero of Return of Ultraman or in its Japanese name Kaetekitta Urutoraman.
    • Episode 39 has Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon alumnus Ayaka Komatsu breaking out some fancy stunts.
    • A disjointed example with Gunjoji, who reuses the Tankjoh suit - Tankjoh is voiced by Joji Nakata, and his first name is sometimes read as "George", but Gunjoji isn't.
    • Master Black is played by Time Red. Cue him performing his old Chrono changer pose when transforming in a flashback.
  • Casting Gag: Mao Ichimichi has apparently been going through the checklist of roles for females in Super Sentai - starting as a Yellow Ranger, she was then a one-shot mascot, a Pink ranger, and now the mecha.
  • Character Outlives Actor: Ui is confirmed in the Kiramager crossover to still be alive, despite her actress dying the previous year.
  • In Memoriam: Kishiryu Sentai Ryusoulger Special Chapter: Memory of Soulmates is dedicated to Ui's actress, Mana Kinjo, who died from an unknown illness after the main series ended production and airing.
  • Irony as She Is Cast: Ichika Osaki (Asuna) was a former idol singer and has a pretty nice voice. On the other hand, Asuna is Hollywood Tone-Deaf.
  • Playing Against Type: Sentai voice actor Wataru Takagi had been casted as a Villain of the Week in previous seasons. This season is different for him: he now voices a dinosaur-themed Sentai mech.
  • Promoted Fanboy: All of the main cast were fans of the franchise before they were casted.
  • Production Posse:
  • Prop Recycling:
    • The Basilisk Minosaur is slightly remodeled and repainted from the Cockatrice Minosaur.
    • The Kelpie Minosaur is a modified Unicorn Minosaur costume.
    • The Grim Reaper Minosaur, or at least the lower body part, is taken from the Medusa Minosaur.
    • The Poltergeist Minosaur is remodeled from the Troll Minosaur.
    • The Helheim plants see some use once again, in the Lotus-Eater Machine Minosaur.
    • The Satan Minosaur is modified from Ultimate Great Satan from Four Week Continuous Super Sentai Strongest Battle.
    • Ryusoul Brown is a brown recolor of Gaisoulg. Likewise, Max Ryusoul Red's armor is also modified from Gaisoulg, but justified in that the power-up came from Nada's sacrifice.
    • In the Ryusoulger special, the Mysterious Minosaur is repainted from Hades Beastman Beldan the Behemoth’s costume.
  • Real Life Writes the Plot: Ui leaving for America in episode 42 was due to her actress, Mana Kinjo, falling ill. Sadly, she would eventually succumb to illness early in December 2020.
  • Significant Double Casting:
    • Mitsuru Fukikoshi portrays both Naohisa Tatsui and Seto. It would be revealed early on that they both share the same body, with Seto possessing Naohisa at any moment in time.
    • Romi Park voices both Pricious and Eras. Justified, since Eras reshapes Pricious’ dead body into her own.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • Katsumi Hyodo mentioned in an interview that he initally wanted to audition for the role of Koh, but when he went to the audition venue, he found out that it was time to cast the 6th ranger and the 5 main rangers had already been casted.
    • Messages on the show's official Twitter account stated that Asuna was from a rich Ryusoul Tribe family and her backstory would be explored in upcoming episodes. This ultimately never happened.
